Here’s a little side project to keep my creative juices masticating and your hungry bellies full of fresh content.
I attend a lot of film festivals throughout the year, often ones modest in size and without a lot of fanfare. New Directors New Films, a collaboration between Film at Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art, is a little more prestigious than most. But somehow it hasn’t quite garnered the reputation or household name status of the Tribeca Film Festival or SXSW, despite being around far longer and having a far stronger track record for launching new talent.
Lucky for them, it’s about to get the ol’ Alexander Scott Bump.
This was recorded on the night of Sunday, April 13th, following the last day of NDNF. It should be the first in a sporadic series of transmissions meant to celebrate these festivals, and give you a ground-level view of what’s emerging from them in terms of new works and new artists. In the future, I hope to produce more day-to-day installments at each new series I attend.
Did you catch anything at the festival? Are you planning to attend any in the coming year? Are you one of the filmmakers I mentioned and feel you’re owed an apology? Leave a comment and holler at ya boy.
